Every coin has its own "normal range"
BTC is low-volatility — a 0.3% one-minute candle is routine, while a 1% move is a big event. High-volatility altcoins can swing 2–3% every minute, so a fixed 1% threshold just floods you with noise.
ATR = average range of the last 14 candles
The average of the high-to-low range across the last 14 candles. It measures this coin’s "normal move size" in real time, adapting automatically as the market shifts.
Alerts fire only above N× ATR
The moment a coin moves far beyond its average range — that’s the real signal. CoinSir catches exactly that moment. No coding needed; a single slider does it.
Alert fatigue is a setup problem
Both fixed-percent and pure-ATR approaches have fundamental blind spots.
The limit of fixed-% alerts
“I set a 3% alert and it goes off every minute”
Set a 3% alert on a high-volatility coin whose 5-minute candles average 4%, and it meets the condition on almost every candle. Real signals get buried, the flood drowns you out, and you end up muting alerts entirely.
The limit of ATR alone
“With ATR alone, even a 0.5% move counts as a spike”
On a low-volatility coin averaging just 0.1%, a 0.5% move already reads as “5× ATR.” A change that's tiny in absolute terms gets flagged as a spike, producing an endless stream of meaningless signals.
ATR + Range combined

Alerts fire only when both conditions are met. High- and low-volatility coins are each judged by their own standard.
The ATR + Range mix is the default, and you can tune each filter’s sensitivity (threshold and multiplier) yourself.
Computes the average volatility (ATR) of the last 14 completed candles in real time, applying a different baseline for each coin and each time of day, automatically.
Sets an absolute minimum move to prevent over-detection. No matter how low the ATR gets, meaningless micro-moves are filtered out.
Breaks the ATR threshold AND the Range threshold. An alert fires only when both conditions hold at once.
Range of each of the last 14 candles: 0.49, 0.41, 0.99, 0.68, 0.65, 0.58, 0.42, 0.44, 0.18, 0.44, 0.31, 0.26, 0.23, 0.36 (%)
→ ATR = (sum ÷ 14) = 0.46%
→ ATR × 3 = 1.38% (alert threshold)
→ current candle = 3.79%
✓ 3.79% > 1.38% → alert fires instantly!
